How He Came to Know God

Pastor Paul Huang found the Lord his Savior in an unconventional way.
As a biology teacher, he only went to church to be with Mei and he was always prepared to debate the preacher, yet God transformed his heart and he was baptized in 1995 along with Mei. From then, he dedicated his life to following closely after the Lord. In 2001, God gave Pastor Paul Huang’s family a calling to serve in the United States. He left everything behind and bought one-way tickets for the whole family, bringing only 7 luggage and David's trombone. His English comprehension was limited and he never had a desire to leave his home country, yet he simply answered God’s call. He was a humble man of faith who followed God in every step through the entirety of his life.
When David was 5 years old and Nick was 3, Mei brought Paul to church. At first, Paul went with the belief that kids who grow up in church are more obedient at home. He also wanted to spend more time with Mei, so he went to church. Over time, God softened his heart, showed him the love of God, and the argument seemed secondary to him afterwards. God transformed him, called him to serve a cell group, and then to relocate with the church to Xi Zhi. Eventually, he answered God’s calling to bring his family to the United States in 2001.
